Interior design of a Teppanyaki restaurant for the Japanese chef Koji Hashimoto in Paris.
This project aimed to revive traditional Japanese architecture in a contemporary space. The transparency of light, rich spaces and flexibility are the key features that create the spatiality of Japanese architecture in this project. We also incorporated the traditional “alley” into the design as a symbolic intermediate area from the urban space of Paris into the space of a different culture.
The refined Kumiko and woodwork, created by the traditional knowledge and skills of Japanese carpenters, bring dignity to this place of hospitality.
